The original 976 bulb was approximately 72 watts. The 1020 being suggested here is approximately 65 watts. The 1020 bulb being suggested here will be approximately 10-15% less bright than the original 976. Even though it is less bright, the 1020 should prove adequate in most applications. Since the 976 is obsolete/delisted and unavailable, the 1020 is a viable alternative.
